Who Nightstory is for

Nightstory accounts are created and managed by adults (parents and guardians). Children do not create accounts, do not chat with an AI, and cannot submit information to us directly. All information about a child is provided by their parent or guardian.

What we collect

Account information: your name, email address, and a password (stored hashed).

Story profile information you choose to provide: a first name or nickname, age, interests, and optional family notes used only to personalize stories. We recommend using a nickname if you prefer.

The stories generated for you, so you can re-read them.

Basic product analytics (pages visited, features used) to improve Nightstory.

How stories are generated

When you request a story, the profile details you provided (name, age, interests, notes, and summaries of previous stories) are sent to the AI provider that writes the story text. That provider may retain what it is sent and use it to improve its models under its own terms. Nothing else about your account — your name, your email, your payment details — is ever included. This is why we suggest a nickname for your child rather than their full name.

Illustrations are drawn from a description of the scene that never includes your child's name.

Stories shared publicly

On the free plan, finished stories are added to the Nightstand — our public collection — so other families can read them. Before a story is shown publicly, your child's name is replaced everywhere it appears, in the title, the description and every paragraph, with a stand-in name. Their age, interests and your family notes are never shown, and illustrations never depict a child's face or name.

You can make any story private at any time from the story's cover, and it is removed from the public collection immediately. On paid plans every story is private unless you choose to share it.

What we don't do

We do not sell personal information. We do not show ads. We do not allow open-ended AI chat with children. We do not collect photos or voice recordings of children.

Retention and deletion

You can put a story away at any time; it leaves your shelves and is no longer used to shape later stories, but stays in your account so it can be brought back. Deleting your account removes every profile, story and illustration permanently and immediately. To request deletion by email, contact privacy@nightstory.ai.

Payments are handled by our payment processor; we never see your card number.
